Is bridge for you?

In my opinion, everyone should learn to play cards. It is a great way to exercise your brain, to socialize with others in a fun way, and to practice many skills you need in everyday life, such as quick thinking, creativity, logic, deception, and competitiveness. I really believe that bridge is the greatest card game in the world (and I've play a whole lot of them), so if you're going to learn only one game, this should be it. However...

---WARNING---WARNING---WARNING---
Learning to play well is very time-consuming!

This means that learning bridge takes commitment. Unlike poker, which one could start actually playing in 5 minutes, bridge takes around a day of instruction to start playing anything resembling real bridge on your own. Fortunately, it is well worth the time. If you think you are interested in learning, check out the other links in the beginner section of the bridge page, or if you are in the Baltimore/DC area and I know you, I will probably be willing to teach you for free.
