Prizes Awarded by Other Groups
Compiled by the departmental Awards Committee
Prof. M. F. A'Hearn and Prof. V. Trimble
This list is a list of prizes awarded by a variety of non-astronomical
organizations for which astronomers are likely to be eligible.
- Cosmology Prize of the Peter Gruber Foundation. Recognizes
fundamental scientific advances that shape the way we see and
comprehend our universe. See AAS Newsletter, June 2000. Presumably
information will appear in the future at
The International Congress of
Distinguished Awards. The award is given in conjunction
with the IAU.
- Institute of Navigation Brahe Award. This award has been
initiated for 2001 for contributions to navigation in interplanetary
space. Astronomers are identified as likely winners. This award is
not yet there (October 2000), but presumably details will be
available in the near future at the
ION web pages.
