International Year of Astronomy 2009

In 1609, Galileo made the first astronomical observations with a telescope and recorded his observations. Four hundred years later the world celebrated! 2009 was the International Year of Astronomy. The IYA 2009 website is still active and there are several programs that are ongoing, such as TWAN, Globe at Night, and 365 Days of Astronomy.
