Software Environments for Simulations in Stellar Dynamics

Peter Teuben

University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA.

Abstract I will give an overview of the current software environments that are in use for simulations in stellar dynamics. Often they are tied to a particular researcher in the field, or are the result of a combined effort of a few. Notably two packages, NEMO and STARLAB, will be reviewed in a bit more detail. Effects of evolving programming languages, operating system and hardware environments are also discussed.
