Taking Science Beyond the Journal

Abstract: Have you seen stories about black holes or exoplanets in the news and wondered how they got there? Curious about what it takes to turn your next science result into a media sensation? Or do you want to be the one translating science stories into media products? We will talk about our roles on the AstroComms team at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, how we tell the stories of cutting-edge science through news features and social media posts, and tips for how to get involved in science communications. There should be something for everyone — from researchers who want to work with their local communications teams to those who want to communicate their science more effectively with the public.
