| Star Probe |
This CD allows you to "send a probe" to 8 different Northern and Southern Hemisphere stars. The spectrum for each star is provided along with reference spectra that can be used by the students to determine the composition of the star. While this is not an intensive lab activity, it is a good demonstration and the selection of stars from evolutionary stages helps make some useful demonstrations about composition of a star and its age. The CD also contains a function that allows you to watch the life cycle of different mass stars step by step from formation to final stage. This does not need the CD to run and can simply be copied on to multiple machines. There is no real installation procedure beyond copying the files. |
