My research focuses on modeling the interaction of magnetized gas accreting toward a black hole with the black hole. Direct evidence exists showing gas in a disk-like structure around unseen supermassive objects that are believed to be black holes and the magnetized flow of this gas essentially carries the magnetic fields toward the hole. The fundamental nature of the engine in these kinds of objects is still unknown and the principal goal is to determine if jets are directly linked to rotating supermassive black holes and black hole spin energy extraction occurs.
