Tamara Bogdanovic's research interests are in astrophysics of black holes. In the past she used smoothed particle hydrodynamics codes to model close encounters of black holes with stars and gas in galactic nuclei and study the observational signatures that arise in such interactions. Joined by collaborators she studied the alignment of spins of supermassive black hole binaries prior to coalescence. More recently she got involved with magnetohydrodynamics simulations in order to study the role that weak magnetic fields play in cooling flows in clusters of galaxies.
Currently, Tamara Bogdanovic is the UMCP-Astronomy Center for Theory and Computation Prize Fellow. Prior to moving to Maryland she received her PhD at the Pennsylvania State University.
