Windows SSH Client

PuTTY is a superb ssh client for the MS Windows OS. PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. Applications for Secure Copy (scp) and Secure File Transfer Protocol (sftp) are also available. The PuTTY suite is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham. The PuTTY application size is 422 KB.

Java SSH Client

The link below allows you to securely log in to Astronomy machines using a web browser. This is useful if you are on travel where SSH via an xterm is not available. The SSH client is a Java program call MindTerm from AppGate. This program requires a Java-enabled browser to use them. Thus, you may need to download Sun's Java Plugin. We are currently using MindTerm version 2.4.2. The MindTerm JAR file size is 740K.

For more info, consult the The MindTerm User's guide (v2.0) (PDF),  documentation on Mindterm settings,  the MindTerm README file and the MindTerm License.
