VAMPIRE
Quick Info

Here is a tutorial to get you started using VAMPIRE.
Look here for more basics on how to use VAMPIRE.

VAMPIRE: The Very Awesome Multiprocessor Integrated Research Environment

VAMPIRE is a serial, distributed computing network initially set up by Kayhan Gultekin, Zoe Leinhardt, and Kevin Walsh, updated by Graeme Lufkin, and currently run by Kevin Walsh and John Vernaleo It takes Astronomy department PCs that are otherwise idle and turns them into the second most powerful (albeit serial) cluster in the department. Update: As of November 9, 2006 VAMPIRE is the second most? powerful cluster in the department over the weekend or during school breaks (when desktops are idle nearly 100% of the time).

VAMPIRE is now running. There are currently 51 or so processors managed by Condor on the network.

Kayhan, Kevin, and Zoe have posted their ALTS talk. Check it out for more information on how to set up and run jobs on VAMPIRE.
