IMG_7525.JPG Bonelli's Eagle. Camargue, 3/28/07. I'm basing the ID of this remarkable lifer on the head and beak shape, the streaking on the front, and the white patch on the nape. It was just sitting in a stone-covered field (coussous) by the road. Unfortunately I was too slow to get a picture when it took flight. My field guide indicates there are only about 600 pairs in the region! |
