As part of my second year project, I am investigating the kinematics of molecular gas in several nearby barred spiral galaxies. I am currently analysing CO line emission data obtained from the BIMA array. Once physical paramters such as total mass in the bar, bar rotation speed etc. have been determined, I will use hydrodynamic models to ascertain other fundamental properties of the bar potential.
