Pluto

The issue of the status of Pluto, whether it is a planet or not, continues to be in the news. Although now somewhat out of date, I presented a paper on this topic at the Joint Discussion on the Edgeworth-Kuiper belt at the IAU General Assembly in August 2000. The version of the paper that appeared in the Highlights of Astronomy, vol 12, of the IAU is available as an Adobe Acrobat file. An alternative view of the classification issue was also published in the Transactions by Alan Stern and Hal Levison and this is available at Alan Stern's web page.
