Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) Mission to 433 Eros Page


The NEAR spacecraft arrived at asteroid 433 Eros on February 14, 2000 for a year-long rendezvous. It is currently orbiting the asteroid collecting scientific data from its six instruments and the radio antenna covering the electromagnetic spectrum as shown.

This image was designed by Eric Johnson and Lucy McFadden with images provided by JHU, Applied Physics Lab. The Asteroid was painted by Pat Rawlings. The image has been licensed to NASA for use in connection with the NEAR mission.
