PRELIMINARY !!!
Useful calibration lines. (*** Some of these have now had linelists checked against grism spectra of the IMACS/Magellan calibration lamps. The bluer lines are more uncertain and need to be refined. Also it would be good to tabulate their relative intensities, using the grism spectra. ***)
Download FITS files of slit spectra of the IMACS+Magellan calibration lamps, taken with the IMACS 300-line grism and f/2 camera. These run across chips 2 and 3.
blue, chip 2: wave = 5748.3 + 1.2656 * (x-1259.8) red, chip 3: wave = 6929.5 + 1.3193 * (x-89.0)These calibrations should be good to 5-10 A in the red (chip 3) and at higher than about 5500 A in the blue (chip 2). It's much worse at the very blue wavelengths. They are to be used only for identifying lines in the spectra to refine the calibrations, not for any science.
Some plots of the grism spectra are in the lamp_plots directory. Be warned that the *_approx.gif plots have the very rudimentary wavelength calibration which is known to be off in the blue. The argon and neon *_cal.gif plots have a better calibration applied.
