Title: Graduate Student
Room: ATL 1239
Sara Frederick is a fourth year graduate student. She currently works with Suvi Gezari on understanding extreme AGN variability using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) combined with optical through X-ray spectroscopic follow-up. Previously she worked with Chris Reynolds and Erin Kara on X-ray reverberation mapping and spectroscopy of a rapidly varying AGN with the X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission (XMM-Newton) and the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR). She completed a degree in Physics & Astronomy at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. As an undergrad she worked on a population synthesis of galactic millisecond pulsars, as well as a project determining the effects of precessing black hole spin on gravitational waveforms of binary black hole mergers. She has been a Teaching Assistant for the introductory Astronomy sequence ASTR120 and 121 for majors and is currently the senior graduate student advisor of the Astronomy Gentleladies' Network.
