ASTR 100 Introduction to Astronomy
Fall 2009
There are 2 textbooks required for the course.
- The first textbook includes online tutorials, which
will be graded. You may purchase an online-only textbook
(details provided on the first day of class) for $75.95,
or you may purchase a customized paperback textbook
called "Discovering the Universe", ISBN 978-1-4-2924471-8
(available in the university bookstore), that includes
access to the online tutorials for $105.15. YOU MUST HAVE
THE ONLINE ACCESS IN ORDER TO DO THE GRADED ONLINE
TUTORIALS.
- The second textbook is a customized workbook of
"Lecture-Tutorials for Introductory Astronomy", ISBN
978-0-5-5830539-0, available in the university bookstore.
The class website is on the Enterprise Learning Management System that
is used by the university. The URL is https://elms.umd.edu/. Once there,
you will need to login with your university Directory ID and password.
If you do not know your Directory ID, or you forget your password,
there are instructions on the website about what to do. The syllabus
and assignments will be posted there, as well as being distributed in
class.
