ASTR 100 Introduction to Astronomy
Spring 2010
There are 2 textbooks required for the course.
- You may purchase an online-only textbook
(details provided on the first day of class) for $75.95,
or you may purchase a customized paperback textbook
called "Discovering the Universe", ISBN 1-4292-4471-2
(available in the university bookstore), that includes
access to the online tutorials for about $107. YOU MUST HAVE
THE ONLINE ACCESS SINCE SOME READINGS ARE ACCESSIBLE ONLY IN THE
ONLINE TEXTBOOK.
- The second textbook is a customized workbook of "Lecture-Tutorials
for Introductory Astronomy", ISBN 058305393, available in the
university bookstore.
The class website is on the Enterprise Learning Management System that
is used by the university. The URL is https://elms.umd.edu/. Once there,
you will need to login with your university Directory ID and password.
If you do not know your Directory ID, or you forget your password,
there are instructions on the website about what to do. The syllabus
and assignments will be posted there, as well as being distributed in
class.
