Welcome to the 100th Issue of the Electromagnetic and Light-Scattering Newsletter!

Started in 2002, after the ELS meeting in Gainesville, it regularly updates the light scattering community
on the news in the field, including announcements of conferences, publications, job openings and
software development. The number of the newsletter subscribers gradually grows and is approaching
300. Many thanks everybody who contribute to the newsletter and who read it! Happy Anniversary!

Dear Colleague,

We would like to kindly invite you to participate in the 19th Electromagnetic and Light Scattering Conference ELS-XIX (2021) that will take place online on 12-16 July 2021.

This edition of the ELS conference will be dedicated to our deeply regretted friendand colleague Michael Mishchenko, who was the mastermind and principal convener of the ELS for many years.

A special session will be organized to memorize and acknowledge his considerable contribution to the field and community. If you have collaborated with Michael in recent years and would like to present the results in memory of Michael, we are welcoming you to join this session.

Important Dates:
17 May 2021 - Submission deadline
7 June 2021 - Author notification deadline
12-16 July 2021 - ELS XIX Conference dates

The conference is supported by Elsevier and organized by the Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University

Look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
ELS-XIX Organizing Committee

Dear Colleagues,

With the help of Elsevier, we have established a Michael I Mishchenko Medal to make
Michael’s legacy live in the years to come.

The announcement is already posted at the JQSRT and PhysicsOPEN web sites:

Dear colleagues,

There are two research opportunities in cosmic dust science at the ETH in Zürich, Switzerland.  The Astrophysical Dust Group at the Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics (IPPA), ETH Zürich, in Switzerland, is looking for highly motivated candidates to apply for a postdoctoral researcher position, and a PhD position, within the framework of the ERC funded project “The heliosphere and the dust: characterisation of the solar and interstellar neighbourhood”. The projects include cosmic dust data analysis, modelling of the interstellar dust transport through the heliosphere, and applying the results to other astrospheres and the solar system in the past. For more details and submission of the applications, see:
