Tools for characterizing planetary and small bodies surfaces, atmospheres, and dust particles (Imagery, photometry, spectroscopy, spectrophotopolarimetry)

The Europlanet Science Congress (EPSC) 2022 - in person!

We are inviting you to attend and submit an abstract to our session: Tools for characterizing planetary and small bodies surfaces, atmospheres, and dust particles (Imagery, photometry, spectroscopy, spectrophotopolarimetry)

Conveners: Oleksandra Ivanova, Frederic Schmidt

Co-conveners: Stefano Bagnulo, Ludmilla Kolokolova, Johannes Markkanen, Olga Munoz, Olivier PochA.Chantal Levasseur-Regourd, Stephane Erard, Antti Penttila, Maria Gritsevich

Electromagnetic scattering phenomena play a key role in determining the properties of Solar System objects based on observations using different techniques and in a variety of wavelengths ranging from the ultraviolet to the radio. This session will promote a general advancement in the exploitation of observational and experimental techniques to characterize complex particulate media. We particularly welcome discussions of future perspectives in the utilization of observational and experimental techniques to characterize small bodies surfaces in the context of new missions like Comet Interceptor, and also the planetary aerosols and dust in the solar system.

Abstracts are solicited on progress in observational, numerical, and laboratory methods to extract relevant information from imagery, photometry, polarimetry and spectroscopy in solid phase, reference laboratory databases, photometric and polarimetric modeling, software and web service applications.

Abstract submission deadline is 18 May 2022, 13:00 CEST.

13th International conference on Laser-light and Interactions with Particles (LIP2022)

This is the FINAL announcement of the 13th international conference on Laser-light and Interactions with

Particles (LIP2022) to be held in Warsaw, Poland, on August 21-26th, 2022.

Our plans of having a hybrid edition in Warsaw still hold! Both in-person and remote participations (via video conferencing) are welcomed.

Early registration is still open!

In view of pervading global difficulties, the Abstract submission is further extended to May 15th, 2022.

The call is open for abstracts on subjects dealing with:

- near-field, far-field and time-resolved scattering (computations, laboratory experiments...)

plasmonics, other resonances and caustics (probing, scattering enhancement, modelling...)

- complex shaped particles and aggregates (morphology, composition, functionalization...)

- multiple scattering and random media (dense, turbulent...)

- mechanical effects of light (particle manipulation, forces measurement, optical tweezers...)

- laser beam description (contributions of acoustical and quantum beams are also welcomed)

- particle characterization methods (interferometric, polarimetric, spectral, static, dynamic...)

The following application areas will be also welcomed:

- two- and multiphase flow characterization (combustion, spray, bubbly flows...),

- aerosol and atmospheric sciences (nucleation, transport, characterization...),

- plasma and soft matter physics (nanocrystallites, colloids, suspensions, aggregation...),

- biomedical optical engineering (cell manipulation and properties, microrheology...),

- remote sensing and free space communication (holography, lidar, turbulence...).
