 Meetings

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that the extended abstract submission for the ELS XIII conference is now open. The conference articles will be published on a special issue of the open access journal AAPP (Atti dell’Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti - Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali).  You can find information about the extended abstract preparation and submission at http://elsxiii.unime.it . Please note that we extended the submission deadline to March the 7th.

In the conference web page http://elsxiii.unime.it    the conference registration and accommodation forms are now also available. Please make sure that you register as soon as possible because hotel rooms availability is limited.

Best regards,

The Local Organizing Committee

Workshop "Nano structures on surfaces and light scattering"

Institut fuer Werkstofftechnik, IWT, Bremen, 24 - 25 March, 2011

 http://www.scattport.org/index.php/conferences-menu/446-workshop-nano-structures-on-surfaces-

Light scattering by nano structures or nano particles is of interest in various kinds of applications such as scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM), surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), defect characterization,  electron-energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) and evanescent wave scattering.

At the workshop we like to discus the latest theoretical approaches and computational tools to simulate light scattering by structures or particles on plane interfaces taking into account particle – surface scattering interaction. The latest findings in the field will be presented and discussed.

Previous Workshops

    DDA Workshop 2007

    Null-Field Method 2008

Lasers and Interactions with Particles (LIP), Optical Particle Characterization

The 9th-LIP conference; Rouen, France, 26th to 30th March 2012.

Following the conferences on Optical Particle Sizing and on Optical Particle Characterization (Rouen, France : 1987; Phoenix, USA : 1990; Yokohama, Japan : 1993; Nürnberg, Germany : 1995; Minneapolis, USA : 1998; Brighton, England, 2001; Kyoto, Japan : 2004; Graz, Austria : 2007),  we are pleased to announce the continuation of the series in an up-to-dated format.

The conference will be dedicated to the study of interactions between laser beams and particles, from theory to practice, encompassing in particular the following topics:

    optical particle sizing and characterization,

    internal fields and morphology-dependent-resonances,

     mechanical effects of light,

    the use of pulsed lasers,

    multiple scattering,

    and so on.

The first flyer and the opening of a website is planned for the beginning of the year 2011.

Interested people may however already contact the local chairs : gouesbet@coria.fr  and grehan@coria.fr
