Electromagnetic and Light Scattering
Conference ELS-XVI
www.giss.nasa.gov/staff/mmishchenko/ELS-XVII
The 17th Electromagnetic and Light Scattering Conference (ELS-XVII)
will be held at the Texas A&M
University, College Station, TX, USA from 4-9 March 2018. The main objective
of the conference is to bring together scientists and engineers studying
various aspects of light scattering and to provide a relaxed atmosphere for
in-depth discussions of theoretical advances, measurements, and applications.
ELS-XVII will be held in
parallel with the 11th International
Conference on Laser-light and Interactions with Particles.

Focus/Special Session
SC5: Light Scattering and Radiative Transfer: Basic Research
and Applications
http://piers.org/piers2017Singapore/session.php?session_id=S030
Session's Information: Light scattering and radiative transfer are two
important branches of physics essential to the implementation of advanced
remote sensing techniques and the investigation of the physical processes
associated with radiation in the earth-atmosphere coupled system. This session
provides a forum for the presentation of recent advances in electromagnetic
scattering, such as the scattering properties of nonspherical
particles, 3-D radiative transfer, vector radiative transfer simulations, fast
radiative transfer models for the interpretation of hyperspectral measurements,
and the use of fundamental light scattering and radiative transfer theories in
active and passive remote sensing applications.

Research position at the Purple Mountain
Observatory (China)
The Purple Mountain
Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences is recruiting a staff that will do planetary remote sensing. This summer
PMO will move to a new campus, which is close to Nanjing university.
Office, laboratory, house, etc are new. This is a
nice place for doing research.
A person whose background is
light scattering, physics, optics, or astronomy is preferred. He/she can be
young PhD to a professor. Title and salary are based on his/her CV. The
applicant is encouraged to apply for Thousand Talents Plan or the Hundred
Talents Program, CAS.
