Burchfield's Astronomy

On April 8, 2018, I presented a talk to the Burchfield Homestead Society in Salem, Ohio.
This is a local group that supports and maintains Burchfield's childhood home as a museum.
(See their facebook page: Burchfield Homestead.)

I sat down a few days later and reproduced the talk, given here as an .mp4 video file:
Salem Talk. (This is a 45 min talk, so the file is 5Gb.)

Because this file is so large, I include here a compressed (163 Mb) version: Salem Talk (small).
The problem with this version is that it is a bit fuzzy and some slides are hard to see.

For help viewing details, here are the slides shown in the talk: Slides from talk

I have since re-examined the astronomical background of one of Burchfield's
paintings, ``Orion and the Moon'', which I discussed in the talk:
The astronomical inspiration for ``Orion and the Moon''.
