Summary of Phone Meeting of June 2, 1998 Attending: Mundy, Scott, Scoville, Shepherd, Sutton, Wright 1. Ed Sutton is replacing Lew Snyder in this group. 2. Configurations for ~16 element arrays were broadly discussed. All agreed that the star-configurations of July 97 were acceptable. 3. Configurations for 8-element arrays were broadly discussed. Alternative configuration patterns included Tees, Ys, Stars, and Circles. The T was not considered highly desirable by most. Mel argued strongly that more arms were better for getting good coverage over short hour angles. Nick argued that circles would not give you a good range of radial positions with a limited number of antennas. Nick was less concerned about uv coverages over limited hour angles and was interested in the coverages from Y-arrays. Generally Y's and Stars were considered the preferred patterns to pursue. 4. Our goal of the array designs are to achieve target resolutions of 4.5", 2", and 1" at nu=100 GHz with 3 different independent configurations. Action Items: ============= 1. Lee is looking into 8-element T-arrays as the "standards" for traditional uv coverages and beams, and looking into 8-element star arrays. The goal is to have results by early next week. 2. Debra is looking into 8-element Y-arrays. The goal is to have results for the Y-arrays by June 11. First priority is to look into Ys which are just three arms of the star pattern. Second priority is to look into changing the opening angle of the legs of the Y. 3. Steve and Debra will check if the A-array antenna locations as currently listed on the web-page are correct and email Lee corrections. 4. Debra and Lee will coordinate Star-Y configuration efforts on June 9.
