UHF Stations and Beams 24 Nov, 97 Steve Scott The D, C, and B arrays are unchanged from Lee Mundy's original proposal. Each of these arrays are 16 telescope arrays with one at the center station and three on each of the five arms. Each of these arrays are scaled versions of each other (scale factor = 2.5) and reuse the middle station on each arm from the previous array as its inner most station. The strategy used for the A array was to try to produce as clean a beam as possible rather than just place a few outriggers. The natural constraints of the topography and the desire to add only a single station per arm rather than the usual two, produced an A array that was scaled from the B array by a factor of 1.8. In general the A stations were chosen to lie near existing roads and to follow gentle slopes and avoid trees. An additional station was added to the southwest arm to remove some sidelobes in the beam, bringing the total number of stations to 42. The FWHM (uniform weighting) of the synthesized beam is 0.119x0.135 arcseconds at 300GHz. This is probably sufficient to give us the "sound bite" tenth arcsecond resolution at 345GHz. The first set of plots show the A configuration UV coverage and beams (uniform weighting) for 4 different declinations and an HA range of +-4.5 hours. All of the plots are for 300GHz. The second set of plots shows the coverage and beams for a combination of all of the configurations. The last two plots show a simulated two component source offset by 5" in RA and DEC. The first component is 2.0"x0.3" with an integrated flux of 500mJy and the second component a symmetric gaussian with a diameter of 0.2" and a flux of 600mJy. The second component is offset from the first by 0.2" in DEC. Thermal noise was inserted at 100mJy per 5 minutes of integration. All of the plots were generated by Kevin Marvel using AIPS. ------- D array ------- num: 1 E: 0.0 N: 0.0 R: 0.0 num: 2 E: -2.4 N: 15.8 R: 16.0 num: 3 E: -6.0 N: 39.5 R: 39.9 num: 4 E: -10.7 N: 71.0 R: 71.8 num: 5 E: 10.2 N: 5.1 R: 11.4 num: 6 E: 25.5 N: 12.8 R: 28.5 num: 7 E: 45.9 N: 23.0 R: 51.3 num: 8 E: 10.8 N: -11.0 R: 15.4 num: 9 E: 27.0 N: -27.4 R: 38.5 num:10 E: 48.6 N: -49.3 R: 69.3 num:11 E: -7.6 N: -14.7 R: 16.5 num:12 E: -19.0 N: -36.7 R: 41.3 num:13 E: -34.2 N: -66.0 R: 74.4 num:14 E: -11.8 N: 2.0 R: 12.0 num:15 E: -29.5 N: 4.9 R: 29.9 num:16 E: -53.1 N: 8.8 R: 53.9 ------- C array ------- num: 1 E: 0.0 N: 0.0 R: 0.0 num: 2 E: -6.0 N: 39.5 R: 39.9 num: 3 E: -14.9 N: 98.6 R: 99.7 num: 4 E: -26.8 N: 177.5 R: 179.5 num: 5 E: 25.5 N: 12.8 R: 28.5 num: 6 E: 63.7 N: 31.9 R: 71.2 num: 7 E: 114.7 N: 57.4 R: 128.2 num: 8 E: 27.0 N: -27.4 R: 38.5 num: 9 E: 67.5 N: -68.5 R: 96.2 num:10 E: 121.6 N: -123.3 R: 173.1 num:11 E: -19.0 N: -36.7 R: 41.3 num:12 E: -47.5 N: -91.7 R: 103.3 num:13 E: -85.6 N: -165.1 R: 186.0 num:14 E: -29.5 N: 4.9 R: 29.9 num:15 E: -73.8 N: 12.2 R: 74.8 num:16 E: -132.9 N: 22.0 R: 134.7 ------- B array ------- num: 1 E: 0.0 N: 0.0 R: 0.0 num: 2 E: -14.9 N: 98.6 R: 99.7 num: 3 E: -37.3 N: 246.6 R: 249.4 num: 4 E: -67.1 N: 443.8 R: 448.9 num: 5 E: 63.7 N: 31.9 R: 71.2 num: 6 E: 159.3 N: 79.8 R: 178.1 num: 7 E: 286.7 N: 143.6 R: 320.6 num: 8 E: 67.5 N: -68.5 R: 96.2 num: 9 E: 168.8 N: -171.2 R: 240.5 num:10 E: 303.9 N: -308.2 R: 432.8 num:11 E: -47.5 N: -91.7 R: 103.3 num:12 E: -118.9 N: -229.3 R: 258.3 num:13 E: -213.9 N: -412.8 R: 464.9 num:14 E: -73.8 N: 12.2 R: 74.8 num:15 E: -184.5 N: 30.5 R: 187.0 num:16 E: -332.1 N: 55.0 R: 336.7 ------- A array ------- num: 1 E: 0.0 N: 0.0 R: 0.0 num: 2 E: -26.8 N: 177.5 R: 179.5 num: 3 E: -67.1 N: 443.8 R: 448.9 num: 4 E: -161.1 N: 1065.2 R:1077.3 num: 5 E: 114.7 N: 57.4 R: 128.2 num: 6 E: 286.7 N: 143.6 R: 320.6 num: 7 E: 688.1 N: 344.6 R: 769.5 num: 8 E: 121.6 N: -123.3 R: 173.1 num: 9 E: 303.9 N: -308.2 R: 432.8 num:10 E: 889.4 N: -679.7 R:1119.4 num:11 E: -85.6 N: -165.1 R: 186.0 num:12 E: -213.9 N: -412.8 R: 464.9 num:13 E: -303.5 N: -940.6 R: 988.3 num:14 E: -132.9 N: 22.0 R: 134.7 num:15 E: -332.1 N: 55.0 R: 336.7 num:16 E: -657.1 N: -68.0 R: 660.6
