Visiting Research Scientist

yralchen@umd.edu Physical Sciences Complex

Dr. Ralchenko received his Ph.D. from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1988 on research on six-quark resonances in the QCD-string model. He then worked at the Institute of Spectroscopy (Troitsk, Russia), Weizmann Institute of Science (Rehovot, Israel), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (Gaithersburg, MD) before joining NASA/UMCP in 2025. His scientific interests are in atomic and plasma spectroscopy, collisional-radiative modeling of plasma emission, and development of atomic databases.
