2001 - WTC Firemen 

This year's main ornament is in memory of the events that took
place on Sept 11, 2001.  I chose the raising of the U.S. flag over the
World Trade Center debris by three firemen, since it was a gleam of
hope in an otherwise horrible event.


It is primarily made of toothpicks, with paper clothes on the
firemen, and newspaper and glue producing the debris pile.

As a bonus ornament for this year, I made one to commemorate 
my nephew's high school graduation. 


The flat board is made from popsicle sticks, and the curved hat
part is made from newspaper and glue.  The tassel is just a bundle 
of heavy thread bound up by gold thread.
