The Radio Detection of Golf Balls

The Radio Detection of Golf Balls

Speaker: Zack Meyers, ZSM Technology

Abstract: What do Active Galactic Nuclei, Tidal Disruption Events, and Neutron Star Collisions have in common with a golf ball? They can all be observed using radio techniques. This talk covers astrophysical and anthropogenic anomalies found while looking for Ultra High Energy Neutrinos in early data from the Radio Neutrino Observatory in Greenland (RNO-G). Many of the same signal processing techniques are also used in the RADAR detection of sports balls. The antennas are smaller and the targets a bit bigger, but the skills needed are the same, and they are in high demand.
