Abstract: Adeena Mignogna's path from UMD physics and astronomy student to aerospace engineer, sci-fi author, and podcaster hasn't been a straight line—and that's the point. In this talk, she shares stories from a career building satellites and exploring space through both engineering and imagination. Along the way, she highlights why success in STEM isn't just about math skills, how career pivot points can open unexpected doors, and why science fiction still matters for inspiring real-world innovation (and vice versa).
