Green Bank Observatory

The Department has guaranteed time on the 100m Green Bank Telescope, the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope. Researchers use the telescope to study molecular clouds and star formation in the Milky Way and other galaxies. They have also been key developers of state-of-the art hardware and software for the GBT.
