Edward J. Shaya

Associate Research Scientist

Edward Shaya is currently Associate Research Scientist in the Astronomy Department at U. of Maryland. He was a member of the HST WFPC-I/IDT Team from 1990 to 1997. Then he was a Chief Scientist at the NASA/Astronomical Data Center until 2003. He served on the Space Interferometry Mission Science Team and was PI on a Key project with SIM to measure microarcsecond proper motions of nearby galaxies. He has worked on a wide variety of astronomical problems from ice migration on Ganymede, to supernovae light curves from the Kepler space telescope, to the dark matter distribution on large scales. Most recently he has been involved in a program to determine the trajectories of galaxies back to high z using the Numerical Action Method.
