I received bachelor's degrees in Physics and Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences from MIT. I earned my Master's and PhD in Astronomy from Boston University. I joined the Astronomy Department at UMD in 2004. My professional focus is on teaching, both major and non-major students, using student-centered and research-based techniques. I have a strong observational astronomy background, which frequently incorporate into the courses that I teach.
