I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) with a degree in Applied Physics and Mathematics. In graduate school, I studied nanotubes and fullerenes, but decided to switch my focus to space science. I earned my Ph. D. degree in space plasma physics from Russian Academy of Sciences working with Prof. Yuri Galperin. In May 2007, I received NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) fellowship and joined NASA GSFC Heliophysics Division, working on various projects related to physics of geomagnetic storms. Since 2008 I was supporting NASA TWINS mission team with modeling and interpretation of energetic neutral atom (ENA) emissions from the Earth's ring current. I am a co-developer of the Comprehensive Inner-Magnetosphere Ionosphere (CIMI) model, and co-developer of the coupled CIMI-MHD SWMF modeling framework. I received several NASA awards as PI and Co-PI, including NASA LWS grant dedicated to extreme space weather (role: PI), and NASA STORM mission (role: Co-I) selected for Phase A study in 2021. I served as a sole editor of the Elsevier volume "Extreme Events in Geospace " (2018), and as a lead of International Space Science Institute (ISSI) team "Imaging the Invisible," selected in 2021. My current scientific interests include MHD modeling, kinetic simulations, geomagnetic storms, ENA emissions, radiation belt dynamics, space weather, data assimilation, and application of modern AI/ML methods to space weather problems.
