Dr. Sharkey works as part of the archival group within the Small Bodies Node at the University of Maryland. Their research specializes in tracing the compositions of asteroids and other small bodies throughout the solar system to understand how planets formed and evolved. Dr. Sharkey combines telescopic observations with laboratory meteorite studies, largely in the infrared.
