Narrowband radio bursts detected from the galactic magnetar 1E 1547.0−5408
Speaker: Siddhant Solanki, UMD ASTR
Abstract: Several narrowband radio bursts were recently detected from the galactic magnetar 1E 1547.0−5408. The spectral and temporal properties of these bursts, including their short durations and narrow bandwidths closely resemble those seen in fast radio bursts (FRBs). This suggests a possible physical connection between magnetar activity and at least a subset of the FRB population. In this talk, I will discuss the observations in the paper https://arxiv.org/pdf/2603.21450. I will further explore possible emission and propagation mechanisms in shaping the observed signal.
