Arjun Savel is a first-year graduate student in the UMD Astronomy Department. His research interests include the detection and characterization of exoplanets, their host stars, and their atmospheres. Currently, he is working with Dr. Eliza Kempton on modeling Hot Jupiter atmospheres at high spectral resolution, with an emphasis on extracting 3-dimensional wind, temperature, and chemical gradients. Arjun completed his undergraduate education at UC Berkeley, where he studied physics and astrophysics.
